General Care Instructions
Cubic Zirconia
Occasional polishing with a soft lint-free cloth will help you to retain the original sheen of the CZ. If the CZ’s are soiled, they should be cleaned by hand in lukewarm water with a few drops of mild dish detergent or soap with a ph neutral base. Then rinse the CZ’s under running water and afterwards dry them with a soft, lint-free cloth to avoid spotting and lint spoiling the shine. ALWAYS dry your jewelry immediately after cleaning and store it in a dry, cool place until ready to wear to avoid tarnishing.Under no circumstances should any abrasive or corrosive detergents be used; glass and window-cleaning fluids and chlorine should also be avoided, as they often cause streaking.
Sterling Silver
The best way to prevent tarnishing is to store clean, dry sterling silver in a dry airtight container, like a ziplock bag. An anti-tarnish strip with the silver jewelry in a ziplock bag will help fight against tarnish. Don’t leave silver jewelry in the bathroom. Humidity can speed up the oxidation process that produces tarnish. Minimize sterling silver’s contact to chemicals (hairspray, perfume, body lotion, bleach, etc.) and do not wear it the shower, swimming pool or hot tub. After taking off silver jewelry, clean it with a dry soft cloth before putting it back into an airtight container. A general rule of thumb for silver jewelry: it should be the last thing put on before leaving the house, and the first thing removed when returning home. This will help minimize your jewelry’s contact with perfumes, lotions, and other chemicals.
14K Gold Plated
After every use, clean your plated jewelry with a cotton ball or a very soft cloth to remove any dust and dirt it has acquired. Gently rubbing the surface of your gold plated jewelry using a soft jewelry cloth also helps restore shine. If your jewelry needs more cleaning you may clean it with warm, soapy water.
Gemstones
After wearing, wipe your precious gemstone jewelry thoroughly with a clean, soft, slightly damp cloth. This will enhance the gemstone's luster and ensure that your jewelry is clean before storage. Store gemstone pieces individually in soft pouches. Do not expose your precious gemstone pieces to salt water or harsh chemicals, such as chlorine or detergents. These chemicals may slowly erode the finish and polish of gemstones. Hair spray, perfume and perspiration may cause jewelry to become dull. Apply all cosmetics, perfumes and colognes before putting on colored gemstone jewelry. Make sure to wipe your gemstones after wear to remove any chemicals, oils or perspiration. Do not subject gemstone jewelry to sudden temperature changes. Be extra careful with ultrasonic cleaners. Some gemstones are fragile and can be damaged by ultrasonic cleaners.
